A-Z: My Favourite Authors & Books – P

F

It’s Monday yet again and today’s letter in A-Z: My Favourite Authors & Books should be O but unfortunately I haven’t got any favourite authors with surnames beginning with O so we’re hop, skip and jumping to the letter P instead.

I’ve got 4 x favourite authors with surnames beginning with P and 4 x amazing books to talk about including my favourite ever YA romance (Anna and the French Kiss), 2 x books from all-time favourite series (Fight With Me & All Roads Lead to You) and a brother’s best friend trope romance (Mr. Wrong Number) from a new favourite author.

If you’ve missed out on any of my previous posts, you can find links to them all in the Archives.

AUTHOR: Lynn Painter (Website / Instagram)

Lynn Painter is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author who writes romantic comedies for both teens and adults. She lives in Nebraska with her husband and pack of wild children, and when she isn’t reading or writing, odds are good she’s guzzling energy drinks and watching rom-coms (Author Website).

BOOK: Mr. Wrong Number (Mr. Wrong Number #1) (2022)

It was really difficult to choose between Mr. Wrong Number and The Love Wager (featuring Hallie and Olivia’s brother, Jack) because I love them both equally but as you can tell from the Cate & Kian series, I’m a sucker for the brother’s best friend trope and it was hilarious how unlucky Olivia was so I opted for Mr. Wrong Number.

Bad luck has always followed Olivia Marshall…or maybe she’s just the screw-up her family thinks she is. But when a “What are you wearing?” text from a random wrong number turns into the hottest, most entertaining—albeit anonymous—relationship of her life, she thinks things might be on the upswing….

Colin Beck has always considered Olivia his best friend’s annoying little sister, but when she moves in with them after one of her worst runs of luck, he realizes she’s turned into an altogether different and sexier distraction. He’s sure he can keep his distance, until the moment he discovers she’s the irresistible Miss Misdial he’s been sort of sexting for weeks—and now he has to decide whether to turn the heat up or ghost her before things get messy.

AUTHOR: Stephanie Perkins (WebsiteInstagram)

Hi, there! I’m Stephanie Perkins, and I’m a New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling author of books for teenagers and for adults with teenage hearts. My work has been published in over twenty-five territories, and my novel There’s Someone Inside Your House was adapted into a major motion picture for Netflix.

I was born in South Carolina, raised in Arizona, and I attended universities in California and Georgia. Since 2004, I’ve lived in the mountains of North Carolina.

I’ve always worked with books—first as a bookseller, then as a librarian, now as a novelist and editor. My best friend is my husband Jarrod. Every room of our house is painted a different color of the rainbow, and we share it with a feisty cat named Mr. Tumnus (Author Website).

BOOK: Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss #1) (2010)

It’s a long time since I was a teenager but words can’t express how much I adore ‘Anna and the French Kiss.’ I feel like you’ve automatically got an advantage if your romance is set in Paris.

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris–until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all…including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

AUTHOR: Jennifer Probst (Website / Instagram)

Jennifer Probst wrote her first book at twelve years old. She bound it in a folder, read it to her classmates, and hasn’t stopped writing since. She holds a masters in English Literature and lives in the beautiful Hudson Valley in upstate New York. Her family keeps her active, stressed, joyous, and sad her house will never be truly clean. Her passions include horse racing, Scrabble, rescue dogs, Italian food, and wine—not necessarily in that order.

She is the NYT, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of sexy and erotic contemporary romance. She was thrilled her book, The Marriage Bargain, spent 26 weeks on the NY Times Bestseller List. Her work has been translated in over a dozen countries, sold over a million copies, and was dubbed a “romance phenom” by Kirkus Reviews (Goodreads).

BOOK: All Roads Lead to You (Stay #3) (2019)

As an animal lover, I’m not a huge fan of horse racing but I really felt like as ambitious as Harper and Aiden were about winning the Triple Crown, Phoenix’s wellbeing was more important to both of them. I really like the Stay series and would recommend reading all 5 x books.

Happily single, Harper Bishop trusts in only one passion—her rescue farm and healing her thoroughbred, Phoenix. Her dream is to lead him to the Triple Crown. But how unreachable is it without experience or help? A handsome new guest at her family’s B&B has what it takes to make it come true. And with his irresistible brogue, warm smile, and soothing touch, he’s a major distraction.

After a bitter betrayal, horse trainer Aidan O’Connor has fled Ireland for a vacation in New York’s Hudson Valley. When he sees the horse with the fighting spirit, he’s inspired with a new goal: to train Phoenix to win. He’s also facing an unexpected new challenge: his feelings for Harper.

How can she dare to open her heart to a man who’ll be there only long enough to break it?

So Harper and Aidan agree: try to keep it professional, and focus only on Phoenix and the finish line. But along the way, they could also learn a few lessons in love, trust, and taking chances. And, as painful as it promises to be, saying goodbye.

With 46 x amazing books to choose from, it was always going to be difficult to pick my absolute favourite. Kristen has written so many incredible series such as Boudreaux, Fusion, Huckleberry Bay & Love Under the Big Sky but the With Me in Seattle series will always hold a special place in my heart because they were the 1st books I downloaded when I got my 1st Kindle and they opened up a whole new world of both e-books and self-published authors for me. It makes me so happy that we’re now getting the Single in Seattle series about the next generation of Montgomerys.

BOOK: Fight With Me (With Me in Seattle #2) (2012)

Jules Montgomery is too busy and content with her life to worry about a man, especially one Nate McKenna. If growing up with four brothers has taught her anything, she knows to stay away from sexy men with tattoos and motorcycles. That goes double if he’s your boss. During the one incredible night they shared, he violated the no fraternization policy…among other things, and it won’t happen again. Jules won’t risk her career for mind-blowing sex, no matter how much her body and her damn heart keep arguing with her.

Nate McKenna could give a shit about the no fraternizing policy. He wants Jules and he’ll have her. The rules could bend around them, or be damned. He’s not a man to be taken lightly, and Jules Montgomery is about to find out just how he responds to being pushed aside after the best night of sex he’s ever had. She can fight all she wants, but he’ll have her in his bed in the end.
